To date, infertility affects a lot of people around the world. According to medical statistics, it is estimated that approximately 14% of couples have problems with conception of children. Each year, the number of couples that are infertile increases by two million.
Forms of infertility
In medical practice, four different forms of infertility are distinguished. This male infertility, female infertility, combined infertility, “inexplicable” infertility. To determine which particular form of infertility takes place in a specific pair, a number of special analyses are carried out.
If we evaluate the causes of infertility, then we should distinguish such types of this state: uterine, endocrine, hormonal, immunological, psychological, peritoneal infertility.
Infertility in women also secrete the primary and secondary. About the primary infertility can be said in the event that a woman was not pregnant once in a lifetime. Secondary infertility is diagnosed in the event that before pregnancy came, but after that the next conception does not occur for one year.
If we are talking about a combined form of infertility, then in this case there is both a female and a male factor. This form of infertility is diagnosed in about a quarter of all cases of this condition. In some cases, infertility is manifested in a couple in which partners are incompatible. Sometimes after a thorough examination of a man and a woman, there are no visible causes of infertility. In this case, there is unexplained infertility (the so-called infertility of an unknown genesis).
Diagnosis of infertility
Infertility is diagnosed in a woman or a man in the event that pregnancy is absent for one year of a constant sexual life without the use of contraceptives. Such a period was determined based on the following statistics: approximately thirty percent of women become pregnant during the first three months of regular sexual activity. Another sixty percent of couples learn about pregnancy for six to seven months, and ten percent of women are conceived within one year. Consequently, one year is a sufficient period for assessing the spousal fertility. To date, most cases of infertility can be successfully treated with the help of modern methods of reproductive medicine.

To assess the fertility of a married couple, the doctor conducts an examination and studies the history of the disease in detail, as well as the characteristics of the sexual relations of partners.
Men without fail need to pass an analysis of sperm, which allows you to assess the mobility and the number of spermatozoa.
In the process of examining a woman, she must determine whether she has ovulation. To do this, the ovaries are ultrasound, a special blood test for hormones. If a woman has a normal ovulation, she is given a hysterosalpingogram – X-ray examination of the fallopian tubes and uterus. In addition, other examinations (ultrasound, hysterosonography, laparoscopy), which allow to identify the presence of other pathologies, are also prescribed.
In addition, if necessary, studies are carried out, which are aimed at assessing the interaction of spermatozoa and the egg. Also, the production of antibodies to spermatozoa is being determined, because sometimes the immune system attacks spermatozoa, perceiving them as a hostile substance.
